The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has fined JetBlue Airways $2 million for operating multiple chronically delayed flights, marking the first enforcement action of its kind.
Half of the penalty will compensate affected passengers, with each receiving at least $75 in vouchers for future flight cancellations or delays of three hours or more caused by the airline within the next year.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg stated, "Today's action puts the airline industry on notice that we expect their flight schedules to reflect reality."
