The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Department of Transportation have officially unveiled the Strategic Management of Airspace, Routes and Trajectories (SMART) tool on September 21, 2026.
This advanced platform integrates approximately 200 different data streams, including weather conditions, flight paths, traffic flow, and air traffic controller staffing.
The SMART tool is designed to enhance air traffic management by providing a centralized system that supports real-time decision making.
Its implementation aims to optimize traffic flow and reduce delays, improving efficiency in the national airspace system.
